On October 8, 2014, Awkward. was renewed for a fifth season. It was revealed that it will be the final season of the show. The first half of the season premiered on August 31, 2015 and ended on November 9, 2015. The first 12 episodes season featured the last days of Jenna's senior year. On November 9, 2015 it was revealed that the showrunners were hopeful for a sixth season.The second half of the season premiered March 15, 2016. The final 12 episodes of the season takes place a year later, "where they quickly realize those awkward moments don't stop once you leave high school."
